Music, sound and noise effects come alive.
We recommend 1, 2, 4 or 6 x BS-200i per channel.
because 3 x 4 Ohm in series = 12 Ohm = low amplifier power.
3 x 4 Ohm in parallel = approx. 1.3 Ohm = too low - even for our 2 Ohm suitable amplifiers.
Everyone is talking about 3D technology in the home cinema, our body sound transducer opens the door to a tangible dimension. Hollywood movies, action games and concerts become a spectacle that you can experience through your seat and feel the bass as if you were fighting alongside Frodo in the middle of the Battle of Mordor.

When the Hulk turns dark green and bellows out his "Smash it", you take cover. In driving simulators like GTR 2, Dirt Rally or F1 2018, you'll panic after the first corner and grab the first aid kit and warning triangle from the car and put them next to your Playseat.

In technical as well as medical fields, the body sound transducer finds its application in infrasound.
The thick binding posts accept cables up to 4mm² and banana plugs. A recommended amplifier is the A-803i, to which up to 6 x BS-200i can be connected. The underside must lie flat and over the entire surface of the vibrating surface. The best screw connection is with threaded screws + toothed lock washer in nut + washer. The mounting surface can be made of wood or metal. Textiles, plastics and other material with heat resistance below 120° Celsius lying on it must be removed beforehand. The mounting space must be free to the outside for cooling air circulation.
The 75mm voice coil has the highest heat resistance of 250° Celsius achievable to date. The aluminium housing cools the voice coil by heat dissipation and ventilation. The oscillating magnet system is safely guided by 2 fibreglass-reinforced centring elements, even at high power levels. The Bass Shaker BS-200i tuning is around 35 Hz (resonance frequency), which compared to softer magnet suspension results in very controlled bass impulses without a spongy sound feeling.
We recommend 50-70 Hz = HIGH CUT approx. 9 o'clock to 9:30, but for games and car racing you can run the BS-200i up to 150 Hz = HIGH CUT approx. 11 o'clock to 13:00.
Rule of thumb: 1 x Bass Shaker BS-200i for max. 100 kg (please include seating furniture).
As a listening and test sample, we have provided you with the pieces here (Audio samples)set in Mp3 format.

Purchase motivation
Playing video games on a computer instead of a console leaves the player with a tremendous amount of individuality, each user can customise the components and peripherals to their individual needs, which is very limited with consoles.
While the graphical quality of the games was getting better, I always found the haptic feedback to interact with the gaming environment somewhat lacking. While vibration feedback is common with console controllers, PC gamers with mouse & keyboard are left empty-handed for the time being.
So I did some research on the net and asked myself how such vibrations could be realised on the PC and came across the possibility of structure-borne sound transducers.
For the transmission to the body, the only option for me was actually to attach it to the chair, nobody wants vibrations on the mouse!
Numerous comparisons, forum posts and reports of experience later, I finally decided on the Reckhorn system.  The decisive factors were the unstinting praise and the good price/performance ratio.

General impression / quality & customer service
Before I placed the order, I asked Reckhorn for advice and was promptly advised.
For delivery to Switzerland, the invoice was also VAT-exempt and the delivery went smoothly. The components were well packed and in perfect condition.
My ordered system:
- A-500 mono amplifier
- 2x BS-200 bodysound transducers
The components are simple and solidly manufactured and make a long-lasting impression.

Project implementation
1. substructure
The two bodysound transducers were to be attached to the underside of the chair. To do this, I uncovered the underside and drew in the support contour of the chair leg (Fig. 1).
Then I placed the transducers in the intended places and wanted to fix the threaded inserts to the chair. Unfortunately, the wood was too weak and the threads quickly tore out (Fig. 2). That's why I decided to use adapter plates made of hardwood - they should transmit the vibration with as little loss as possible. I drilled holes all around the circumference (fig. 3) and carefully fixed the discs crosswise (fig. 4 & 5). It is important that the discs fit snugly against the chair so that they do not vibrate at the end, but transmit the vibrations exclusively to the chair!
Abb. 1 Abb. 2 Abb. 3
Abb. 4 Abb. 5 Abb. 6
Between the chair leg and the seat floor I have attached 4 of the supplied rubber decouplers at the support points, so that the vibrations reach the body and the chair, but not the floor and the whole house (Fig. 6).

2. mounting the structure-borne sound transducers
Finally, the transducers were attached to the adapter discs - they fit perfectly (fig. 7 & 8).

 3. cable & connection
Hardwiring the office chair is a bit awkward, so a "plug and play" solution was needed.
I decided on a cinch connection. The two bodysound transducers are connected in parallel with loudspeaker cables in a junction box on the underside of the chair. On the distribution box is the Cinch socket (yellow) for connecting the amplifier cable (Fig. 9 & 10).

Between the Reckhorn A-500 amplifier and the chair hangs my cinch cable, with which I can connect or disconnect the chair (especially practical for cleaning the room!).

4. overall impression of my solution
My installation concept worked - I can therefore recommend my version.
If I were to start all over again, I would choose XLR plugs/sockets (Fig. 11) instead of cinch cables. The cable cross-section of RCA plugs is limited, and they are only suitable to a limited extent for high power transmissions. In addition, XLR connections are more durable, the chair is after all regularly plugged in and unplugged.
Abb. 11 Abb. 12 Abb. 13
I fixed the switch lever for the height adjustment to the chair leg with a rubber band - otherwise it would constantly swing and rattle (Fig. 12). The system is very compact and hardly anyone notices it when the cable is not plugged in (Fig. 13).

Experience so far & conclusion
I have now been using the system described since December 2015 and have played various games of different genres with it. In the meantime, I can no longer do without it; a game without the vibration support suddenly seems wan.

Most important realisation:
This audio-based vibration solution is a more direct way of perceiving bass and not haptic feedback in the true sense, as is the case with consoles. These react to certain actions in the game, which transmit a signal to the vibration motors. In contrast, the system described here reacts to all audio signals in the lower frequency range, which means that the vibrations sometimes occur more and sometimes less realistically, depending on the situation and the audio profile of the game.  One should be aware of this difference. Nevertheless, I find it a successful system and would buy it again.
The Reckhorn components still worked flawlessly, the two bodysound transducers combined with the A-500 amplifier have more than enough power for the office chair, I play at about 60% power, when I turn it up full it almost knocks me off my chair.
And by the way: nobody in the next room notices the vibrations, a clear advantage over a normal subwoofer!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Reckhorn team and wish all the screwdrivers every success with their future projects.
from Japhet G.

I am excited.
After a lot of thinking and reading in forums, I decided to try out this combination on one of my cinema seats.
So I quickly ordered 2 BS-200i and an a-408. First of all, the communication with Mr. Reck. Whether it was advice or questions about the order, it was always very quick - others should take a leaf out of his book. The delivery was very quick, I was able to receive the package within 2 days. First of all, I went to the DIY store to have 22 cm of MDF board cut to size. When I got home again, I started right away.
The MDF board was screwed to the bottom of the chair, then a BS-200i was screwed to the middle of the MDF board. Connected the cables and led them to the a-408. Then it started. Put in the Blue-Ray (Tron : Legacy) and slowly adjusted the controls on the a-408. Level Sub at 12 o'clock and High Cut all the way to the right, all other controls all the way to the left.
Wow, that went down well and I decided to screw the 2 BS-200i underneath as well. I just wanted to know how big the difference was.
What can I say? I chose 2 because it's more accurate. When the bass is gone in the film, the BS-200i are also quiet, as they should be. You have to get used to it a bit, though, with all the settings on the a-408. For example, I turned the High Cut control all the way to the left again. I like it better that way, when the shakers only come in at very low frequencies. Because I am so enthusiastic, I immediately ordered 6 more BS-200i + 1 A-408 for the rest of my cinema seats.

I am now running 4 BS-200i on each A-408. I would advise every home cinema fan to try it out.
to give it a try.

My personal conclusion: I am thrilled.
Bass Shaker in 2 Leather Sofa
Hello all,
my review of the Reckhorn A-409 and the BS-200.
A few weeks ago I decided to move my home cinema out of my living room and into my basement.
To do this, I looked at a lot of information and ideas on the internet and came across the subject of solid-borne sound transducers.
The decision was made relatively quickly. I want to try out this system. After a short phone call to the Reckhorn company and a really helpful employee, I ordered an A-409 Reckhorn amplifier and 2 x BS 200. The shipping and delivery was lightning fast.
The same evening I installed the baffles. I bought a 19 mm thick multiplex board from a DIY store. Then I screwed it to the metal frame with M8 threaded screws. I decided on 2 bodysound transducers and thought about ordering 4. However, I wanted to test 2 first.

The result is amazing. The two BS stimulate my couch intensively. The power of the Reckhorn is easily sufficient and I had to turn it down (approx. 35%). The overall feeling when watching a film is much more intense and the feeling of being in the middle of it is unique. For me, the precision is also very good. Pure cinema feeling.  An aeroplane flyover, explosion gets a punch that I can perfectly complement with my subwoofer (SDS12) in combination with this system.
For me, an enrichment for every film.

Couch in the home cinema with structure-borne sound transducers
For years I have owned a home cinema, which I have successively enlarged and renovated over the years. Now I have an HD projector, a 4.5-metre (diagonal) screen, a 7.2 Teufel sound system in combination with a Denon 3313 AVR and various peripherals; all in all, a nice thing, but something was missing to make the cinema experience even more realistic. Over the years, I've toyed with the idea of buying a so-called butt-kicker, but it failed because I didn't have the financial means to do so and because I was convinced at the time that I would have to build an extra platform.
Now, in January 2016, I was sitting with relatives who had invited the neighbour at the same time; so I got into conversation with him. The conversation quickly turned to our common preference for home cinema and his question as to whether I had ever dealt with so-called solid-borne sound transducers - I answered in the affirmative with the above in mind. The neighbour reported enthusiastically about his new acquisition from Reckhorn; I pulled out my mobile phone and immediately noted the homepage. After researching in various forums and the very positive experiences there, I ordered the A-500 amplifier together with two BS-200i.
The installation of the sound transducers in my couch was quite uncomplicated after I had researched again in advance how to achieve the optimal effect by correct installation. Not only forums but also a very informative telephone conversation with Mr. Reck (Reckhorn) made it easy.
I installed the two BS-200i in a long leg of my L-shaped couch; one at the left, the other at the right end. It is important that the complete contact surface of the body sound transducer is firmly screwed to a supporting part of the couch frame construction-the screws are enclosed. On the right side, the couch substructure was wide enough, but on the left side I had to attach an MDF board (18 mm thick) in the corner area of the substructure, because the supporting surface was not wide enough (I'm attaching pictures-but I don't know if they will be published on the homepage). Red: we are happy to do so
The transducers were screwed together. Now I connected them in series, i.e. the plus cable from the amplifier output to the plus input of the left transducer, the minus cable from the amplifier output to the minus input of the right transducer. All that was missing for the series connection was the connecting cable from the negative input of the left transducer to the positive input of the right transducer. This type of connection makes a lot of sense, as it produces a different resistance than the parallel connection, which prevents the transducers and the amplifier from overheating despite the very good power output (in a later test after 2 hours of "The fast and the furious - 5-", for example, the amplifier and the transducers were only "hand-warm").
After the connection between the transducers and the A-500 was established, I had to connect it to the DENON AVR 3313. This is done using a mono RCA cable from, for example, the second subwoofer output of the AVR to the red OR white RCA input of the A-500 (a mono cable is sufficient as a signal line, since the A-500 has a crossover inside, which bundles the red and white RCA inputs anyway!)
I decoupled the couch legs with two G-44 rubber dampers (included), one on top of the other and screwed to the base.
Now came the big moment. I switched on the system, chose a film with nice low frequencies and was FIRST disappointed; the effect was hardly noticeable!
I phoned Mr. Reck again, who advised me the following!
-Set the output signal strength of the subwoofer output on the DENON 3313 to e.g. 80 % (+10db) (a strong signal improves the quality of the effect, as the connected A-500 does not have to refresh a weak signal).
-The A-500 has two dials; Sensitivity and High Cut. Sensitivity is the power level (effect strength), High Cut determines the frequency range that determines the sound depth at which the transducers respond (already at medium depths, e.g. voices, or only in the low bass range, e.g. explosions).
Fine tuning" is possible within this range. My basic setting for Sensitivity (due to the strong output signal from the DENON AVR) is approx. 55 %, i.e. at approx. 1 o'clock position of the control. I have High Cut at approx. 45 %, i.e. at approx. 11 o'clock position of the control.
Since then I am VERY SATISFIED. On the same day, I watched the film "The Equalizer" with a work colleague and, to put it bluntly, we couldn't get the grin off our faces. The couch was partly shaking and the cinema experience was now really palpable-another dimension!
Greetings M.A.
Playseat Game Console with Shakers
Hello Mr Reck,
A few weeks ago, I bought a Playseat for my console to enhance the racing simulations. A short time later, I stumbled across the body sound transducers on the Internet and read about some successful installations on various Playseats. It was clear relatively quickly that I needed something like that. The question of which transducer I should buy had been on my mind for a while. I studied countless reviews and experience reports. The result was clear. Nothing beats the price/performance ratio of the BS-200i.

So I ordered a BS-200i (Amazon) and an active 150 watt subwoofer module (eBay). All together, it cost me a good 100 EUR, but I, an old thrifty person, quickly realised that the subwoofer module was too imprecise and did not offer enough power. After some research, I got in touch with Mr. Reck and was advised very well. Since then, my Playseat has been fitted with 2 x BS-200i, driven by an A-500. This combination is really something. Even without pushing the A-500 to its limits, I literally take off with my Playseat in collisions or similar sound effects. In the end, of course, I didn't come up with 100 EUR, but since I was able to buy the A-500 cheaply (second-hand) from the Reckhorn Shop, it didn't turn out to be more than 250 EUR. This investment was more than worth it.
Playseat Game Console with Shakers
About the construction
Since I couldn't mount the BS-200i directly on the Playseat, I built a small substructure that is screwed under the seat. This consists of two 30x30mm hardwood slats, which were glued and screwed to a 15mm thick multiplex board. The two laths were necessary because a board directly under the seat would have impaired the seating comfort. The construction was then painted and the two BS-200i were mounted. Initially, I had screwed the seat frame directly to the wooden construction and the seat and decoupled the underframe. However, I could not stop some vibration noises of the underframe. After consulting Herr, I decided to decouple the seat directly from the underframe. On the one hand, this solved the problem of the vibration noises, and on the other hand, it increased the effect even more, because now the undercarriage does not have to be excited as well.

The assembly is actually very simple, but I made it a bit more difficult for myself than necessary, because I initially only installed a BS-200i and then changed the type of decoupling several times. So I frequently took the seat apart. I connected the BS-200i in series to the A-500. I still wanted to try a parallel connection, but the series connection recommended by Mr. Reck in this combination satisfies me completely, so that I have not yet had to jam myself under the seat again.

Since I don't have a full AV receiver at the A-500's place of use, but only a soundbar that doesn't have a sub-out or anything similar, I have to tap the signal directly at the Playstation. This is certainly not optimal, but it's the only way at the moment, and it works extremely well.

Conclusion

I can now imagine how good the BS-200i are in a home theatre. However, so far I can only report on their use in combination with a Playseat. Here they are excellent. The already realistic driving experience in a racing seat with an up-to-date steering wheel and pedals is made even more authentic by the body sound transducers. Every bump, every contact or the revving of the engines becomes (clearly) perceptible. You can hardly get any closer to the feeling of actually being on the race track. Admittedly, the quality also depends somewhat on the sound quality of the respective racing simulation, but the BS-200i itself is really top-notch.

The A-500 has plenty of power and works absolutely precisely and reliably. The adjustment possibilities are limited, but especially for the solid-borne sound transducers, more adjustment possibilities are not necessary at all. Mr. Reck had already told me this, but I couldn't quite believe it at first. So I bought a second-hand active bass extension B-1 from the Reckhorn company in order to be able to enjoy more adjustment possibilities (boost frequency, subsonic). What can I say, Mr. Reck was right, of course. More settings than the A-500 offers (sensitivity + crossover frequency) are really not necessary for the bodysonic transducers. The B-1 was sold again.
If I were to find fault with the A-500, it would be the lack of rotary controls. The setup during installation would probably be much more pleasant if one didn't have to do it with a screwdriver. But that's complaining at a high level and only spoils the pleasure for a very short time, because once you have set up the A-500 correctly, you don't need the controls any more.

Many thanks to the Reckhorn company for these great products. This project has definitely whetted my appetite for more Reckhorn products.

With kind regards
Thorben Ö.

Good luck furthermore... I hope you were able to collect further sales arguments with this!
Thank you very much for the friendly feedback Mr. Reck!

I would be very happy if this idea could be taken up and other racing enthusiasts could benefit from "experiencing" a simulation in a completely new way with their own products and a little DIY work. In addition, it must also be clearly stated here that such a great leap towards reality can be acquired for a comparatively moderate price. In my opinion, this is the last escalation level before a "full motion racing simulator", but these cost from 10,000 upwards! Therefore, you really have a striking sales argument for the clientele that wants to use more than just a steering wheel with force feedback, but does not see any financial scope for a full motion simulator.
>The response behaviour, for example, when shifting up out of tight corners with large-volume V8 racing engines is particularly impressive. You can almost feel how the rear axle "bites" into the asphalt when accelerating.

Many greetings from Cologne to Kaltenkirchen!

Hello everyone,
I would like to share with you my experiences with the Reckhorn A-405 external power amplifier plus the BS-200 bodysounders, a few tips on assembly and configuration.
a few tips on installation, set-up and configuration.
Since I was stuck on the subject, I made an appointment with a dealer to have the IBEAM
demonstrated to me. An IBEAM was mounted under a two-seater sofa, which was fired by a Reckhorn A-405. It
a film with jets and some explosions. Okay, I did notice a humming and vibrating sound, but I would have
but with explosions I would have expected something more. I then asked for the level to be turned up a bit. Now it became
now, yes, but unfortunately also too violent. Hmmm, I don't know,...but maybe I was wrong, because of the
numerous euphoric postings on the net, did I expect too much? I don't want to say now that the IBEAMs were bad, but somehow
..... I was disappointed. This was also true for my wife. And that at a price of 287,- € per IBEAM?
The Reckhorn company, their service and the ordered components!
Just as I had read on the Internet, so it was....
A service that really is second to none. Simply top! I pestered Mr. Reck with countless questions.
And all of them, really all of them, were answered succinctly but precisely. And not only on Saturdays, no, even on Sundays was
Mr Reck was there for me. Simply exemplary. In the end, Mr. Reck convinced me and I ordered the following components
components: 2x external power amplifier Reckhorn A-405 4x BS-200i bodysound transducer 10x decoupler
My personal conclusion!
After I was also able to test the IBEAMs, I can only agree with the statements from other forums.....
Two BS-200s are better than one IBEAM. And if you then take the price as a basis, Reckhorn is clearly ahead here.
1x IBEAM costs 287,- € and 2x BS-200 cost just 98,- €. The price-performance ratio
of the IBEAMs is extremely bad.

Hello from FLYSELF
I build flight simulators and have been hooked on the BS-200 from the first minute, so I bought one for my next project. Since it is impossible to use a mobile Flullmotion platform, with the BS-200 you get the impression of really flying, whether during take-off or landing, when the landing gear retracts there is a slap on the butt, creating a perfect illusion of flying.
The BS-200s are mounted under the seats of the PIPER PA-28-181 ARCHER II, and the vibrations are transmitted to the
complete cockpit simply cool!
I am very satisfied with it and this product also shows how versatile it can be used.
Forever Reckhorn
My next project is a Cessna 172N Skyhawk where the new BS-200 and CS-6 speakers will be installed!
What you get for your money here is simply incredible.
Field report armchair:
Thanks to a good sound system in combination with the Reckhorn BS-200, cinema visits are slowly losing their appeal... :o))
After first attempts with two Reckhorn BS-200 on a couch and a stereo amplifier, I'm now running four single BS-200 on four swingers from a Swedish furniture store. Two of the transducers are connected in series and, thanks to the subwoofer amplification, they do an impressive job. The vibration is transmitted evenly to the entire upholstery (seat and back). They are connected to the underside of the frame of the seat element, so that they are decoupled from the floor, I screwed four G-44s under each armchair.
Whether BluRay or PS4 games, everything feels more "real" and the subwoofer can stay off when it's too late. Our guests are very impressed and don't want to get up. :o)) In the meantime, some of them have extended their plans to also upgrade their seating with the Reckhorn.
My conclusion - super quality at a low price. What you get here for your money is simply incredible. Even the cable holders are real binding posts, with the option for 4mm² and banana plugs, super. Save the money for a big subwoofer and rather buy two BS-200 and maybe a subwoofer amplifier, I don't want to miss that feeling any more and the neighbours still greet you friendly! :o)

A big praise to Mr. Reck for these little jokers, as well as for the nice and informative phone calls. I have just ordered two BS-200s again, a podium will soon be set up and brought to life, experience follows...
Field report racing seat:
I can't imagine racing games without BS-200s anymore, awesome!
Two BS-200s are installed in my RaceRoom, both connected to a stereo amplifier with separate equaliser. What is unthinkable for films, brings additional fun here - thanks to the stereo (right/left) signal and you feel every curb realistically on the left or right side, letting the engine roar makes the entire racing seat shake. The vibrations are even easily transferred to the pedals and steering wheel mountings thanks to the screwable frame. (The steering wheel is of course equipped with a motor). My recommendation for racing games - turn off the very high frequencies, reduce the medium ones, don't cut them out completely, and the low ones - sure - loop through fully. Since I could simply screw an MDF plate under the seat and only needed longer screws for this, I did not attempt to install the BS-200 upright. I would have been interested in the result, but even so the effect is simply sensational!

The effect is very subtle and guests are always surprised
I am an avid home cinema user and was looking for a way to improve the experience.
After investing in a larger display as well as a high-quality surround system, I became aware of so-called "structure-borne sound transducers" through an article in a magazine.
The principle is easy to explain: while classical loudspeakers transmit sound via the movement of the diaphragm to the air as a conductive medium, such transducers are firmly attached to a piece of furniture or vibrating raised floor and transmit the sound mechanically. This works technically by means of small oscillating masses that are excited by magnetic coils. The vibration is then transmitted to the respective object and is perceived by the viewer via the body. Logically, this is only applicable at very low frequencies, i.e. low tones.
I was sceptical at first, but decided to try out such a system. I found numerous "cheap" offers at a large online mail order company as well as an internet auction house, but I doubted their quality. There were also some offers in the upper price segment, but they seemed too expensive to me - especially since I was not even sure whether "vibrating pieces of furniture" would really improve the home cinema experience or rather disturb it.
Using an internet search engine, I finally found the website of the company Reckhorn, which manufactures and sells such systems. The technical data of the products and the description seemed serious, the price seemed reasonable and a first e-mail contact was very friendly and professional.
After detailed advice by e-mail from the company owner himself, I ordered a set consisting of the A-500 amplifier and 4x BS-200s to equip two two-seaters with two transducers each. Order processing and delivery were quick and professional.
Unfortunately, something rattled audibly in the housing of the delivered amplifier. After a brief telephone consultation, I opened the unit and found that a threaded screw had loosened during transport. The problem was quickly solved. Alternatively, I could have exchanged the unit, but I preferred the quick solution.
I also had the opportunity to admire the inner values of the amplifier - the massive toroidal transformer for the power supply, the generously dimensioned and obviously redundant electrolytic capacitors as well as the cleanly processed circuit boards made a good impression on me. I also found the temperature-controlled fan regulation convincing - this way the amplifier doesn't get on my nerves with permanent ventilation but still cools the components reliably when needed.
To install the transducers in the sofas, they had to be modified. I had two MDF boards with a thickness of 22 mm cut to size at the DIY store. I drilled holes in them to match the mounting holes of the transducers and inserted threaded sleeves from above.
The boards were then glued and screwed to the pieces of furniture.
Finally, I screwed the transducers into the previously inserted sleeves using threaded screws and toothed lock washers. The wiring was done as shown schematically here:
The combined parallel-series connection results in a total impedance of 4 ohms - so the amplifier cannot quite deliver the maximum possible power. In practice, however, this is not a problem; the effect was still stronger than necessary - I reduced the level considerably later by means of a controller.
Instead of hard wiring, I mounted terminals for banana plugs on the sofas; these consist of a simple plastic part from the 3D printer and 4mm sockets with solder connections. This way you can also move or transport the sofas.

The result looks like this - the whole thing exists twice.
Now I had to decouple the feet of the sofas so that the sound is not transmitted to the floor.
For this purpose I ordered 20mm thick rubber plates, which I screwed between the existing metal feet and the wooden frame of the furniture.
Finally, the amplifier had to be connected to the subwoofer output of the 5.1 receiver and new cables had to be laid to the sofas. Then it was time for the first function test - first with test tones from the Internet and bass-heavy music. The effect was much stronger than expected - you could feel every bass directly. I had initially set the level and the crossover to about the middle position, but this way too high frequencies were transmitted and altogether amplified too much. In my opinion, it's no use if the sofa is constantly wobbling - at least not for home cinema. During the first films, I had to make several adjustments and it took quite a while to find the right setting.
In the meantime, however, I am highly satisfied. The effect is very subtle and guests are always surprised when you can suddenly feel an explosion or another loud noise in the film. It really does create the illusion of an extremely potent bass speaker - except that you suddenly can't hear it when you get up from the sofa.
Provided the film material is suitable, home cinema is even more fun with the new system. I can unreservedly recommend the solution and would buy it again at any time.
Malte R.
This is an added value that I no longer want to do without.
Dear Mr. Reck,
I recently purchased an A-500 amplifier and two BS-200 solid-borne sound transducers from you, which I used to modify my couch in the home cinema. In order to give potential buyers an idea of the implementation. A few photos of my conversion.
Small home cinema approx. 14sqm leather couch from Rolf Benz and therefore very high quality and solidly processed.
Conversion of BS-200 structure-borne sound transducer - couch:
Since the couch is of high quality, I did not want to open it. This is because not only the fabric covering of the underside is fixed with the staples, but probably also the leather. Cutting into the cover was also out of the question for me and in addition, I did not want to install an "electrical" device in a combustible object.
Since the underside was already fitted with massive wide battens, as could be felt through the fabric cover, I decided on direct mounting.
This was done with 5mm threaded sockets (Rampa sockets) and 5mm Allen screws including "correct" washers and toothed lock washers (the toothed lock washers enclosed with the BS-200 are not to be used, as they literally dissolve when tightened properly).
I was able to hide the speaker cables inside the couch with a pull wire.
Implementation of the A-500 amplifier:
Since the technology, i.e. the AVR, is a few metres away from the couch and I am a purist who doesn't want to see cables anywhere, I decided to install the A-500 amplifier under the couch. This allowed me to conceal the subwoofer cable with its 2-3mm on the skirting tiles and mask it with wall paint. The subwoofer was mounted under the couch using a manufactured aluminium "tray", which was mounted under the couch with rubber buffers to prevent damping. I also used threaded sleeves (Rampa sleeves) for this.
After painting the "tub", it was mounted and the A-500 was placed on it.
Implementation of the decoupling couch:
I decoupled the couch with rubber buffers type D and hardness (Shore) 55, which is identical to the hardness of the G-44 rubber buffers from Reckhorn.
Threads were cut into the solid cast aluminium feet and the rubber buffers were screwed into them.
Conclusion:
Since I have not yet "felt" any other solution, it is difficult to draw a conclusion or comparison. The first tests were disappointing at first, because as a layman one simply imagines too much. After small changes to the potentiometers on the A-500 and maximising the Sub2 level of the AVR, it is now an added value for me that I would not want to do without. Previous visitors were also very impressed and probably some new Reckhorn customers :-)
The installation of the bodysound transducers now rounds off my 3D speaker configuration (Atmos,DTS:X and coming Auro 3D) and I can conclude the conversion very satisfied.

I can't understand how others can make the A-500 switch off when playing a film.
The A-500 only got warm to the touch once, when I turned up the potentiometer on the amplifier. However, this was only for a screening of 1-2 minutes, because the "felt" effect is far too unnatural, unpleasant and has nothing to do with the film.
Apart from that, the A-500, which is now under the couch, remains cold for me, i.e. I can't even feel that it has to work hard on the housing.

Best regards
Sven S.
Turned up further and now the party was on
Hello Reckhorn Team,
First of all, thank you for the competent and detailed advice on the phone. Really great. All questions were answered precisely. I ordered the amplifier and the bodyshakers on Thursday 03.03.2016 and received them on Friday. Super service. And Saturday was the day, I could finally start with the installation. I had 4 cheap shakers under my couch in the basement cinema for several years, driven by a simple Pioneer stereo amplifier with 40W, with high pass cinch inline filters, separated at 70 Hz.  The effect was there, but my self-built subwoofer (building suggestion from Hobby Hifi) made more noticeable bass than the shakers. Through research in Internet forums, I became aware of the BS200 bodyshakers.
I had 22 mm MDF boards cut to size at the DIY store and then screwed them together. On the left and right and in the middle of the couch. I used 5 mm drive-in nuts and Allen screws to fasten the shakers. Since I'm not quite sure about the position of the shakers on the middle board, I've attached drive-in nuts at several positions. This way I can quickly change the position of the shakers. Now I wasn't quite sure whether I should take 2 or rather 4 BS200. With 2 pieces, series or parallel connection to the A408 amplifier is possible. Series connection results in 8 ohms and about 90 watts per shaker. Parallel connection results in 2 ohms and approx. 190 watts per shaker. However, the load on the amplifier is higher in 2 Ohm operation, which could lead to the amplifier going into protect mode if it is used for a long time.  That's why I installed 4 pieces. 2 in series and 2 in parallel. This results in 4 ohms again, but then only about 70 W per shaker. I have now connected everything, set the amplifier to half volume and started the pod race from Star Wars 1......no shaking, no shaking.....nothing....???? I then checked the cabling again, everything was OK.

So I turned up the amplifier even more and now it was all happening. Explosions, gunshots and other low-frequency sounds made the couch shake....class. However, the volume on the 408 was almost at maximum. But the amplifier held out for at least 40 minutes without any problems (I first had to find a suitable setting for the controls on the 408), but then it was very, very hot. I phoned Mr. Reck and asked if it was a problem for the amplifier. He said it was no good. I should increase the subwoofer level on the AV amplifier to 80-100%. But the sub output was set to maximum. Now what? The problem is that my main speakers can only be loaded with max. 50W and my Yamaha DSP A1 therefore only needs to be turned up a little for loud cinema sound. I then lowered the level for all speakers by 10 dB in the menu. This means that I now have to turn up my Yamaha more and also have more level available at the preamplifier output for the Reckhorn A408. The 408 is now at about 12 o'clock. That's quite enough. At first I was worried that the Reckhorn 408 wouldn't have enough power for the 4 BS200s. But when I turn it up even louder, the couch almost takes off. But it is important that the couch is decoupled from the floor. I screwed on the supplied rubbers twice as feet. I used 4 square millimetres for the speaker cable. So that I can move the couch from time to time, the cable was made separable via a plug connection (e.g. gold-plated 4-way soundboard connector).

I am completely satisfied. I'm only annoyed that I didn't buy these bodyshakers earlier. The combination of Rechkhorn A 408 and 4 BS 200s works very well. It would be interesting to compare the A 800 and 4 shakers. You would have about 125 W per shaker at your disposal. (With the 408 approx. 70 W per shaker) This could make the sound even more precise and exact. I also have a subwoofer project with 2 high-end Mivoc HCM 12T subwoofer drivers. For this I could use the A 408 and the A 800 for the shakers. We'll see. In any case, it's an enrichment for the home cinema. I'll play around with the controls a bit more, though. There are a few possibilities. At the beginning, the volume of the bodyshakers is turned up too high anyway, so that it really shakes, and then you turn it down again a bit. The subwoofer and the shaker should complement each other and not be hit by the structure-borne sound. I'm going to watch some films again and feel them. With the shakers, it's now more in the middle of things instead of just being there. I'm already thinking about adding a BS200 to my living room chair. I wish everyone lots of fun with the Bodyshakers. Shake it...!

Video

Such Body Shakers are really the madness and a MUST in every home cinema!
Have fun shaking ;-).
Installation of 4 bass shakers in Sofanella cinema seats

Connection variants

An odd number of shakers is very unfavourable.
Examples:
3 x 4 ohms in series = 12 ohms = low amplifier power.
3 x 4 ohms in parallel = approx. 1.3 ohms = too low - even for our 2 ohm capable amplifiers.

2 x BS-200i solid-borne sound transducers with the subwoofer amplifiers A-800 bis A-803i
The terminals of the BS-200i are large enough to connect to the first terminal when two 4 mm² speaker cables are connected in parallel and further to the second with two 1.5mm² to 3m speaker cables. Two BS-200i with 4 Ohm each (that's 2 Ohm amplifier load) are fine for the amplifier or other 2 Ohm capable power amplifiers. For each two BS-200i one above mentioned amplifier is needed, because at higher total impedance than 2 Ohm the power decreases, which is then distributed to the shakers (too little power per shaker).
Parallel connection Series connection
1. the amplifier power is highest with parallel connection = 2 ohms. If this is not needed, the series connection = 8 Ohm is more stable against overload.
2. 2 x BS-200i share the "work" more confidently than if you get all the vibration from just one unit.
3. if you have separate seats, you need one unit per seat anyway. Platforms are also better driven by 2 x BS-200i in different places.
4. the load capacity is doubled and the voice coils do not get so hot.
5. the vibrations reach deeper, but the impulse fidelity and tight reproduction are maintained.
The BS-200i belongs to the tightly tuned solid-borne sound transducers without the disadvantages of the constructions mentioned below:
A. Softer magnet suspension / lower resonance frequency = less restoring force = spongy reproduction.
B. Greater weight of the vibrating parts = longer reverberation = delayed reproduction.
C. Longer voice coil for more stroke = even longer reverberation.
amplifier setting:
It is particularly useful to use the variable SUBSONIC. Turn from the far left to the right until the vibration becomes slightly weaker, then turn again 3-4mm to the left. This filters the ineffective frequency range = the reactive power. This reduces the load on the solid-borne sound transducers and amplifiers, so that even more power is now available for the useful range. This function is especially important when the lower bass range for the subwoofers is being pushed by calibration systems. Furthermore, the BS-200i reacts only slightly to changes in frequency response and filtering of room modes.
PHASE is used to optimise the cooperation between the solid-borne transducer and the airborne woofer. To do this, run both up to approx. 150 Hz and turn PHASE until it has the loudest / strongest effect = both run in phase. Then limit to the desired highest frequencies. We recommend 50-70 Hz = HIGH CUT approx. 9 o'clock to 9:30, but for games and car races you can run the BS-200i up to 150 Hz = HIGH CUT approx. 11 o'clock to 13:00.
Interaction with subwoofers:
For subwoofers (airborne sound) and shakers (structure-borne sound) you need separate amplifiers to match them; because the structure-borne sound transducers need 5-10 times the power to complement the airborne sound optimally. Since most subwoofers have built-in power amplifiers, you only need one mono amplifier for the shakers. However, these must have a particularly strong power supply like the Reckhorn amplifiers in order not to drop off in the low bass like almost all simply built amplifiers.
Audio Video / Main Unit Setting:
SUBWOOFER OUTPUT / SUB OUT / LFE should be turned up about plus 80% to send a strong signal to the subwoofer amplifier via mono RCA cable. This is even more important if you have to double the output with Y-Cinchadaptor to make one = two outputs = 1 x to the normal subwoofer + 1 x to the amplifier for the BS-200i bass shakers. Also with 2 x SUB OUT cinch sockets you should turn up + 80% so that you can turn down the input sensitivity of the following subwoofer amplifiers = less risk of interference. In this case, the volume relation subwoofer - bodysound transducer can be adjusted more comfortably via the remote control.

platform construction

These rubber blocks are required to significantly increase the vibration capacity of seats, sofas, pedestals, etc. The special rubber mixture of highly damping, soft material (shore 55°) increases the vibrations by at least 100% with the same amplifier power if the substructure is sensible. Compared to round rubber feet, installation is possible in all 3 dimensions: flat sideways, upright. The largest height of 44mm gives the longest spring travel, but the more G-44s are needed. Rule of thumb: height 14mm = 1 rubber block per 80 kg, height 35mm = 1 rubber block per 50 kg, height 44mm = 1 rubber block per 20 kg. 44 x 35 x 14mm height - 2 mounting holes for countersunk 5mm screws. Further areas of application: Vibration damping of washing machines, industrial machines, housing feet.
Rule of thumb:
Per person = 1 x BS-200i. High weight = more G-44, G-44 sideways or on edge + High weight = even more G-44.
1. spring effect
The seating furniture must be decoupled from the floor in order to create a swing path. Our G-44 rubber blocks are suitable for this purpose and can be installed in 3 positions
a) flat height 14 mm; high load capacity - low swing path. This position is sufficient for single chairs with 4 x G-44.
b) Lateral 35 mm; medium load capacity - good swing path. This position is sufficient for sofas with approx. 8 x G-44 or for small pedestals.
c) Upright 44 mm; lower load capacity - very long swing path. This position is the best for demanding
applications. The swing path also depends on the weight, because the more the G-44s are compressed, the smaller the swing path.
the smaller the swing path.

2. mounting
a) Structure-borne sound transducers must be rigidly connected to the seating furniture at stable points = directly at the feet or supporting parts. Large, vibrating mounting plates reduce the transmission to the seat frame. Required mounting plates can be made of 18-22mm MDF and must be screwed and glued to the seat frame and be hardly larger than the bottom surface of the BS-200. Additional seats that are only hooked in hardly vibrate at all, so that 1-2 structure-borne sound transducers must be used per individual seat. The softer the seat upholstery, the more it dampens the vibrations.
b) The vertical direction of vibration = up-down is better than lateral = left-right, because this is closer to the effects of music and films.
3. platform with more than one row of seats
To build a podium with more than one row of seats, you have to pay attention to the correct height of the rear podium.
You can calculate the optimum platform height online here.
Example 1: Platform 3x2m with 2x BS-200i platform construction with 17x G-44 rubber dampers crosswise
Example 2: Platform 3x2m with 2x BS-200i platform construction with 28x G-44 rubber dampers on edge

FAQ

Additional information: "Bass-Body / Shaker / Transducer"
Hello Reckhorn team,I am planning to install two BS-200i on my couch. The couch has a continuous wooden panel underneath. However, I suspect that it is not very thick. At least that's how it "sounds" after knocking tests. In my opinion, I would therefore fix MDF or HDF boards the same size as the transducers between the BS-200i and the base plate. What do you think about this? I would consider a material thickness of 20mm to be reasonable.

Easier and more stable are MDF boards of at least 16 x 16 cm glued to the corners of the frame.

The biggest problem for me is the automatic calibration of my Denon AVR. They write on their website that this has no great effect on the transducers. Unfortunately, I find different information about this on the net, in relevant forums. At the moment, I'm not sure whether I should just use the A-409 plus two converters or whether I should also add a MiniDSP between the pre-out and their power amplifier. Basically, I want their converters to be active only in the low bass range between about 15-40 Hz. It is important to me that the timing is as exact as possible and that the "level balance" between the sub and the transducers is correct. Can I compensate for the delay between my subwoofer and their transducers via the phase control on the A-409?

Delay between subwoofer and also main speakers in relation to bodysound transducers for delay differences up to 5 metres are inaudible / impalpable because that is only about 15 milliseconds. Furthermore, a delay is caused by the mass inertia of the structure-borne sound transducers and mainly by the seating furniture. However, if the measuring system boosts, for example, the somewhat low bass weak subwoofers, e.g. below 30 Hz, then this boost also affects the solid-borne sound transducers, unless the system is only switchable / effective on SUB OUT 1 or 2. If there is a strong boost, I recommend, especially for this case, but also in general: Turn the SUBSONIC on the A-409 or A-803i slowly from the far left to the right until the vibration becomes slightly weaker, then back again 3-4mm = reactive power is filtered = more useful reserve.

Lieber Herr Reck

Also entkoppeln sie ausgezeichnet.

Also nach o. g.

Der Selbstversuch (Phase I)

Basslastiges Musikstück, BS-200 an 30W (an 4 Ohm?!?), schlichtweg keine Regung.

Was nützt 4K ohne Inhalte? Etc…
Für alle Zuspieler zum AV-Receiver, sei Blu-Ray, DVB-X oder Streamingdevices. Es funktioniert.

Freundliche Grüße
Andreas P.

Eine ?neue Dimension? im Heimkino

Vorgeschichte:

Testphase:
Star Wars Episode I ? Podrace; unglaublich, Tatooine erwacht!

30 May 2016

- also wie neu).
Also umgehend 2 Stck.

Habt Ihr nur 1 Sub Out, dann einfach 2 Y-Kabel verwenden.

Zone

In diesem Sinne, Highfidele Grüsse

Vielen Dank

Mit freundlichen Grüssen

Man könnte mich sicher als Bass Fan bezeichnen.

Bericht:

Dann eben Heimkino ohne Shaker.
Fazit:

Reckhorn - immer wieder gerne!

- also wie neu).
Also umgehend 2 Stck.

Also erst mal Bretter besorgt und Körperschallwandler montiert

Also ging der Buttkicker wieder zurück.
Vielen Dank an meine geduldige Lebenspartnerin.
Gruß C.

Richtig geile Sache.
