Matching our S-230 bamboo spheres, the SW-450 extends the low-bass range. The S-230s can be attenuated below 60-80 Hz to produce a higher, undistorted sound pressure level. All other satellite speaker combinations are also significantly enhanced. The cabinet (30cm diameter x 46cm height including feet) is more stable and sonically neutral than most speakers with flat walls thanks to its double-walled cylinder design. D-200 / 20-inch subwoofer This bandpass design produces rich and precise deep bass. We recommend a subwoofer amplifier with at least 100 watts and a powerful power supply.
Those who want to avoid this initially can also operate the SW-450 on AVR speaker outputs ZONE 2 with a menu setting that only sends the low bass below 60-80 Hz to ZONE 2.
Connection and setup:
Press a small piece of the included adhesive tape into the three rubber feet. Then press the feet onto the lower edge at a 120° angle. Connect the speaker cable according to the sticker on the magnet, as the diaphragm radiates sound from its rear. For optimal sound placement, we recommend:
Place the SW-450 on the floor near your listening position and play deep bass music at a high volume. Walk around the room to find the best sounding spot and reposition the SW-450 there or nearby. Often, you'll find a "bass ditch" in the center of the room – a lack of deep bass. The sound will be louder in the corners, but boomy and imprecise.
The best setup can be tested with deep bass music or our Sound files The process is as follows: Place the SW-450 on the floor directly at your listening position, walk around the room, and listen to where the deep bass sounds best. You'll quickly notice the higher volume in corners and near walls, but the sound will be rather muddy. Once you've found the best spot, place the SW-450 there or move it slightly to better suit your furniture.
