| One of the world's best 16cm bass speakers just looked even better. The removable grille conceals the chassis edge and the screws. All components meet the highest quality standards without compromising on cost. The in-wall speaker is optimized for deep, long-throw bass reproduction in small enclosures. The best sound is achieved with sealed enclosures. Further improvements in quality result from active operation with digital crossovers. (DPS-6 or DSP-6mini) . The diaphragm is very stable/low in vibration due to the deep anodized layer on both sides and does not deform even in small housings with corresponding back pressure from the strong vacuum. The long-throw spider and rubber surround enable a low resonant frequency. The die-cast aluminum basket is ventilated behind the spider. Additionally, the diaphragm has ventilation slots behind the dust cap. The low mechanical losses are further enhanced by a high-power voice coil: the polyimide wire is wound in four layers on the aluminum former, providing heat resistance up to 250° Celsius. The aluminum diaphragm is bonded with thermally conductive epoxy adhesive for additional heat dissipation. |

ULTRA-SUB: Reckhorn's 17-centimeter woofer D-165 impressed us extremely positively in the last comparison test of this chassis size: It performs excellently as a subwoofer driver. This is not only due to its parameters, which are ideal for this application, such as large moving mass combined with an extremely powerful drive and outstanding performance. Long stroke, but also surprisingly low mechanical losses. Besides distortion figures, this is THE decisive parameter for assessing sound quality. The large-format, long-throw voice coil, the rock-hard aluminum diaphragm, and the solid cast basket are certainly not what you'd expect from a driver costing 30 euros. This represents an absolutely exceptional and excellent price-performance ratio. Conclusion : Reckhorn's D-165 offers superb deep bass and is sonically highly talented. The price is not just okay, it's sensational. |
