C-191 coaxial loudspeaker, patented top-of-the-line built-in loudspeaker chassis
Based on our worldwide patent, the latest version was created using state-of-the-art components.
The loudspeaker chassis offers the best point sound source with lifelike localization and spatiality.
The bass-midrange diaphragm is made of highly stable anodized aluminum and is effectively damped against partial vibrations by seven asymmetrical cuts plus an asymmetrical surround curvature. We use the same concept for the 28mm tweeter dome, including a one-piece voice coil former. This provides additional cooling for the aluminum wire and increases power handling for use with a low crossover frequency. Both diaphragms, as well as the acoustic damping behind the tweeter baffle, enable first-class sound even with simple passive high-pass crossovers. Absolute top-class performance is achieved in active operation using our DSP-6 digital crossover.
For passive operation, we recommend using the bass-midrange driver without a crossover as a full-range speaker. The tweeter can be coupled in the basic version using the included components according to the diagram above. The high-quality 4.7 µF polypropylene film capacitor is connected in series with the tweeter positive terminal. Resistors are connected in series with the tweeter negative terminal to attenuate the otherwise too loud tweeter. 1 x 2 ohms = loud, 1 x 5 ohms = medium, 5 + 2 = 7 ohms = quiet.

For use as a satellite speaker with a frequency response above 80 Hz, a closed net volume of 10-12 liters, completely filled with lightly compressed damping fibers, is sufficient.
For deeper bass, we recommend a cabinet with a volume of 20-30 liters.

Conclusion: With its C-191, Reckhorn has implemented a promising approach for coaxial sound transducers, which finds its logical continuation in the spherical housing of the S-300.
