Professional quality: The STRONGEST 2.5 mm aluminum butyl on the market

0.4m x 5m x 2.5 mm = 2 m² Weight of one m² = approx. 4.5 kg

Our new Alubutyl ABX-tra is a composite of aluminum and butyl ( no bitumen ) and is ideally suited for soundproofing car speakers and the interior of doors and trunks. ABX-tra is completely odorless (see the lab report below) and features superior adhesion (self-adhesive) (easy to apply thanks to the effortless removal of the silicone paper and the non-stick edge). Its outstanding feature, however, is its sound dampening, achieved through its very high density per square meter.
One roll is suitable for insulating 2 car doors and various other rattling points.
Please be sure to wear work gloves, as the hard film has very sharp edges.
DV-10i and Alubutyl are not approved for use in the engine compartment by any vehicle manufacturer.
Therefore, the insurance company could refuse payment in the event of a claim.
For optimal adhesion, we recommend preparing the surface to be bonded:
1. Dust, oil and grease free.
2. Lightly sand water-repellent surfaces (lotus effect).
3. Improve initial adhesion by warming to 20-40°C. Alubutyl and ISO composite mats should be stored for 1 day at 15-30°C.
4. Press the aluminum butyl down with a wallpaper roller. Press the insulating mats down firmly by hand.

A better and cheaper product for damping and soundproofing is currently hard to find on the market.
Do not buy insulation foils adulterated with petroleum or asphalt! That stuff stinks like mothballs in your car.
Please bear in mind that the insulation layer is not completely covered if you use it to bridge gaps in the sheet metal, for example.

In addition, there are health risks:
Guideline values for naphthalene can be found under Help.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naphthalin

The following test report (in the download area) for our Alubutyl shows that there is no health risk whatsoever.
Summary: The analysis shows that the proportion of all 197 particularly concerning substances in the sample is less than 0.1%.
"Summary: According to the analytical results, concentrations of 197 SVHC substances are less than 0.1% in the submitted sample."
Explanations regarding the EU REACH Regulation: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verordnung_(EG)_Nr._1907/2006_(REACH)

We had a "budget product" tested for emissions of potentially harmful substances. The accredited testing laboratory found, among other things, naphthalene at 500 µg/m³. According to the CLP Regulation (Classification, Labelling and Packaging), naphthalene is classified as "probably carcinogenic." Under the same test conditions (50 x 20 cm without a cover film), our ABX only measured 2 µg/m³ of naphthalene.

Our tip: Before buying from budget suppliers, have them confirm in writing that you will not be met with a mothball/asphalt smell after removing the foil.
